Termites or white ants are not “Ants” at all. They are more resemble to cockroaches and develop from hundred to two hundred million years evolutionary history.
Termites are small, white tan or black coloured
insect belong order Isoptera. The Latin word Isoptera means equal wings and refers that front set of wings of reproductive termites is similar in size and shape to hind set. Termites are classified into three types viz. Dry Wood, Damp wood and Subterranean termites.
Subterranean termites are the main culprit, causing major structural timber damage to domestic and commercial buildings in India Subterranean termites live in underground colonies from where they infiltrate into the buildings through tiny cracks and crevices. A gap of just of 0.5mm. is enough for them to gain entry. Once they gain entry, they work quickly and silently, moving in the mud shelter tubes and, destroys wood work, furniture, paper produets and any article having cellulose base in the search of food.
Life Cycle of Subterranean termites
Termites are social insects and can form such large nest, colony consisting of very different looking individuals called as termite caste.
Each caste having a different role to perform and all interdependent upon each other for survival of the colony. This includes reproductive castes (Queen and King), soldiers, workers and primary reproductives which are called as Swarmer (winged termite) which oceur in spring season.
Queen and King: Queen is physically largest individual and her function is only to lay eggs, sometimes thousand in a day, hence called as egg laying machine. The king and queen live in central chamber called as royal chamber and tended by the workers.
Soldiers: The main function of the soldiers is to proteet the colony from predator and have large, hard and potential jaws.
Workers: This is the damaging caste of termites and the largest in the colony. They are creamy translucent colour, soft bodied. They carry out all work in the nest including searching and gathering food, feeding the colony. constructing tunnels, repairing and enlarging colony nest and also caring for the young nymphs until mature. Worker termites are 1/8 to 1/6 inches long, have no wings, are sterile and blind, work 24 hrs a day
POST CONSTRUCTION ANTE TERMITE TREATMENT
(5 Years Contract)
STAGE I: Treatment to wall and Noot junetten Holes of 12mm diameter
18-20 inches apart will be drilled along the inner junction of wall and floor at depth of 6″on the entire grownil and 4″ on the first floor premises Termiticide solution will be injected moder presure into these holes to create barrier against termites. If beavy infestation is nobeed on 2nd and above floors the same treatment will lie carried out on dot partieular floor. STAGE 2: Treatment to wooden fixtures. Holes of 12mm diameter will be drilled at the base of wooden-fixtures such as window frames and doorframes adjoining the flooring and termiticide solution will be injected. This treatment will be carried out on all floors (except basements/Terrace). An oil-based termiticide will be sprayed on all the woodwork infested by the termites within the premises. Special eare will be taken in case furniture attached to the wall as the termites can casily attack them. Drilling will be carried out at the base of all such fixture and termiticide solution will be injected.
STAGE 3: Treatment to termite tubes: Visible shelter mud tubes are first sprayed, to control the existing movement of termites. The mud tube will be then removed and treatment will be given to the infested area.
STAGE 4: Treatment along the externol perimeter of the building Trenching or drilling holes of 12mm diameter 12 inches apart along the external walls of the building at depth of Ift. will be carried out to create a chemical barrier/killing field around the building. All the drilled holes will be sealed. If the building is on stilt, holes will be drilled only along the column side at ground level. If there is loose earth around the walls of the building, rodding will be done on every ft. adjacent to the external surfaces of the foundation wall upto a depth of 500 mm from the ground level. If building is surrounded by garden, the trentment shall be carried out to soil, which is in immediate contact with the building.
Essential requirements of treutmont
1) Existing furniture shall be shifted and kept at a distance of 2 ft. from the wall to facilitate the drilling treatment.
2) Electricity & water to be provided to carry out the treatment.
3) Details of electric & telephone cables. water lines, conduits or any other service lines concealed in floor / wall should be informed so as to avoid any chances of damage during drilling operations, PEPSOP Pest Control Services shall not be held responsible in any inadvertent damage caused to the above due to non-availability of the details.
4) A representative from your end should be present during shifting or removing of your property. as our technicians have instructions not to handle owner’s property.
5) During the course of our treatment thero will be some noise of drilling and slight odour of the chemical. Infanes, aged or any person having breathing problems or sensitive to chemials should avoid being present in the premises during the treatment:
